We're now in Perth Scotland. It's a wee bit smaller than Perth Australia, but really beautiful, with lots of historic buildings and surrounded by glorious countryside. We just did a 4 hour cycle this morning through rolling green hills and valleys, including wild deer, Scotch mist and the beautiful River Tay.
We caught the train here yesterday, which was our first rest day from cycling, and before that spent 3 days cycling through the Borders Region. The first day included a 4 hour climb to the top of the moors followed by a 2 hour descent. We found that part really challenging with fully laden pannier bags, especially with the occasional headwind that turned our bags into sails. The next 2 days were equally challenging with lots of undulating terrain, but compensated for by the babbling brooks, fairytale castles and manor houses, and quaint farms with stone walls for fencing. Luckily there was no rain until the final day, and even then only very light on.
Sama checking the map, to make sure we're not lost (again) on the moors, and making friends with the local wildlife.
Sometimes you just gotta get off yer bike lassie.
One of the many little villages we passed through on the 3 days, each with their own historic abbey or ruins.
This afternoon we're off to Pitlochry, our starting point for a three day circuit of the southern highlands and lochs.
Scotland is very friendly, very beautiful, a pub on every corner that doesn't have a bagpiper busking. It also has some nice beaches, but too cold to swim, and is quite multi cultural, so lots of delicious foods from all corners of the globe.
So it's farewell from Perth, I might just go check out the local fashions. When in Perth......
Sean :)

Hi you two :)
Thanks for posting those photos. Don't listen to Bob; everyone knows there's no monster, but if you do happen to feel a cold, clammy tentacle suctioning you off your bikes as you circumnavigate the loch, you'll know I was wrong. Happy travels, Tom
